We heard yesterday that the talks between BA and their staff had broken down, though there were still contacts using ACAS, the arbitration service. The good news is that were there to be a strike a month's notice has to be given. This means that our outward flight in less than two weeks' time is in the clear but the return from Los Angeles at the end of August may not be.
Turning to happier matters, we leave from London on July 21st for Los Angeles and then have eight days to do our final shopping and car preparation, before we start the tour. The first four days up the west coast of the US is an easy drive on good roads. We want to take each day as it comes and not be constrained by booking of hotels in advance. The drive to Seattle is only about a thousand miles. An average of 250 miles a day leaves us with plenty of room when it comes to deciding where we want to stop each night.
I'll make one final posting before the 21st
A four-thousand-five-hundred mile drive from Malibu in California to Anchorage, Alaska. The route goes via Vancouver Island, the Inside Passage, Juneau, Skagway, Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay (Arctic Ocean), Denali National Park and finishes in Anchorage.

"....only about a thusand miles." you are starting to sound like an aussie commuter! Seriously good news about BA for us both and I hope your return is unaffected.
