June 28th - An update

With just over three weeks to go till we fly out to California, we are now hoping that BA do not have industrial action! If they do, and our flight is affected, I'm not sure what we will do as our flights are booked with air miles and a free companion voucher courtesy of BA American Express.

The likelihood that we will get an alternative flight within the time before we start the trip on July 29th, is not very great. We will just have to hope the discussions on pay are resolved.

Turning to our plans following on from this drive, we have now found out that there is a ro-ro service from Anchorage to Tacoma, Washington state. The terminal in Anchorage is a short drive from our hotel which makes it very easy for us to deliver the cars on Monday August 24th. The ship leaves on Tuesday and takes under three days to get to Tacoma. We have found a storage facility in Tacoma who will store the cars until the end of the year when they will be driven across the border into Canada. They will then be stored at my cousin's house on Salt Spring Island until we return in April 2010, to drive across Canada to Newfoundland.

  1. HI TF
Seems it is all coming together well, apart from BA! I hope you have no problems as I realise I could be in the same boat having booked BA for the birthday party on 25th.
Looking forward to seeing the next blog start in earnest
